A meditation on three minds, intertwining four lives brought together by birth and marriage, this book is a study of perspective which we humans mostly employ when engaging with our inner self in relation to the circumstances around. How do one visualise oneself at the centre of all the action that takes place in one's life? How one engages with family - with spouse, parents or kids. What thoughts plague a stressful mind. It is so difficult to not be moved by this disturbing novella which pushes you to look deep inside even as you observe all that's happening around.
It's a compelling story dealing with mental agony of a mind repressed by an oppressive patriarchy over time, of a desire whose culmination only seems to disrupt the normal course of things on surface, of guilt which remains deep seated in a mind thereby causing pain so unbearable that the only way out is following a mechanical life.
Even if I try, I can't place it alongside any other work which has left me overwhelmed in such a way.
